On Thursday 27th November our Ysgol Yr Hafod football team took part in the Wrexham AFC and Active Wrexham County tournament at Ysgol Y Grango.

Twelve children were selected to represent our school and what a day we had!

In the morning games, the team won their group and managed to get the final. Unfortunately, we narrowly lost 2-1 in the final.

Each member of the team performed and behaved amazingly well throughout. A big shout out to team captain Alfie Jones who not only led by example but chipped in with some goals. Finally, a huge congratulations to William Roberts who was named player of the tournament!!

One of the highlights was an evening walk to the local beach, where the children enjoyed playing and relaxing with their friends as the sun set. Throughout the trip, they showed incredible independence, teamwork, and bravery — truly representing Ysgol Yr Hafod with pride.

We are so proud of each and every one of them. What a fantastic way to celebrate the end of their time in primary school!

On Thursday 28^th November, twelve children were chosen to represent Ysgol Yr Hafod at the Active Wrexham Football Tournament up at Ysgol Y Grango.

An outstanding performance from all children throughout all seven matches played and narrowly missed out on a semi-final spot.

The children were a credit to the school, staff and themselves!

We look forward to the next sporting event!

On November 7th, Year 5 & 6 took part in a World War II themed day at Ysgol Yr Hafod.

Lots of the children came dressed in War time outfits. We had some Army Officers, Land Girls, Evacuees and even Anne Frank!

They took part in lots of different activities throughout the day such as; Carrot Cookie Baking, Preparing Jam Sandwiches, Remembrance Poppy Wreaths, Army Training, War Time Games, Swing Dancing and a VE Day Party.

The children (and staff) had lots of fun and developed their understanding of the Second World War and learnt lots of new skills.

The children have taken part in many different activities including go-karting, archery, tobogganing, zip-wire and many more! A highlight was our evening stroll to Llangrannog beach along the beautiful Welsh coastal path. The children loved playing in the sea and appreciating the beautiful scenery. It was amazing to witness the children challenging themselves and throughout they have shown fantastic independence and respect.

Well done year 6, we are all very proud of you!

What a super performance from our Girl’s Football Team at FAW Colliers Park for the Active Wrexham county tournament.

The team performed very well and the girl’s had lots of fun competing against the other schools.

On Thursday 18th April, some of our year 4, 5, and 6 girls attended a taster football session on our school MUGA with Liam from Active Wrexham. It was great to see such a good turnout and not to forget some super skills on show!

On Friday 12th April our mixed year 5 & 6 netball team took part in Active Wrexham’s Primary School Netball Tournament held at The Maelor secondary school.

All the children played amazingly well and finished the day in fourth position.
